Lyricist Meenu Singh is celebrating her 25 years in bollywood this year. She has the distinction of working with popular Singers,  Music Directors & Producer –  Directors  viz Mahinder Kapoor, Bhappi Lehri,  DAVID DHAWAN, ANU MALIK, DALER MEHNDI, MIKA, BALI BRUMBHAT, SHAAN, SHEREYA GOSHAL, SONU NIGAM, VINOD RATHOD, UDIT NARAYAN  and the list goes on.

Presently, Meenu is writing for Bappi Lahiri’s compositions. She has even penned the lyrics of Asha Bhosle’s forth-coming album. Poetry has always been her passion, says Meenu. She was born and brought up in Jalandhar but the passion became a profession when she moved to Mumbai. “My husband has been a great support”. But my inspiration has been Anand Bakshi. His songs are cherished.

Bollywood lyricist Meenu Singh, is now toning up for the Mrs India beauty contest for which she has prepared herself. She  will be walking on the ramp. It was only last year while watching the contest that the idea of participation  struck Meenu. “I have hired a personal trainer and have lost nearly 8 kg in four months,” she says.

    

Meenu’s journey as a lyricist began in 1996. “I met singer-composer Bali Brahmbhatt and he liked my collection of songs and I got my first break. His song Kook Kook Kooky, which I penned became a big hit.” After that there was no looking back, she says. “I worked with Bappi Lahiri, Daler Mehandi, Mika, Mahender Kapoor, Labh Janjua and others.” She has written the lyrics for the movies Chor Machaye Shor; String and Topless.

“Till date, I have penned lyrics for over 60 songs”. “Old is gold. The magic of old songs created can be recreated even today,” believes Meenu. Now is modeling time for Meenu. “I have already been selected among the top 50 contestants and I’m confident that I shall also be short-listed among the top 25,” she says.
